John Phillip Maguire

John Phillip Maguire, age 84, of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 4:43 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born February 12, 1936, in Elgin, Oklahoma, the son of Ad and Mary Edith (McCullars) Maguire. John was a retired United States Air Force Veteran and retired from the United States Post Office as a rural mail carrier. On February 9, 1957, he married Alta Danner, in New Haven, Michigan. John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alta; two daughters, Beverly Kay O’Malley and her husband, David, of Pittsburg, Kansas and Janet Marie Spry and her husband, Tony, of Joplin, Missouri; two sons, John Phillip Maguire, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Coppell, Texas and Michael Ad Maguire of Joplin, Missouri; three sisters, Oneta Wolf, of Cement, Oklahoma, Venita Watkins of Choctaw, Oklahoma and Dolly Ludlow and her husband, Bill, of Kingsford, Michigan; one brother, Charley Maguire and his wife, Carolyn, of Fletcher, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, Ad and Mary; three sisters, Mary Ruth Flowers, Frankie Beucher and Linda Koenig; two brothers, Ad Patrick Maguire, and Tom Maguire; a daughter, Lori Ann Maguire and a grandson, Gary Spry. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2020, at the Morris-Leiman-Mosher Funeral Home, in Miller. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at the Miller Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are welcome to stop by Alta and John’s home on Sunday, September 20, 2020, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the Wounded Warriors Project, in care of the funeral home at PO Box 108, Miller, Missouri 65707.
