Russell A. Anderson Former Chief Justice Russell A. Anderson died Tuesday, September 15th, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Sally Anderson; and brother, Wayne. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Kristin (Ostby) Anderson; children, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Schmitz, John Anderson, and Sarah (Cooper) Harriss; granddaughters, Eva and Vivian Harriss; step-grandsons, Michael and Thomas Schmitz; brothers-in-law, Bryn (Barbara), Mark, and Karl (Mary Alice) Ostby. A private family service will be lived streamed (bethlehem-church.org) Thursday, September 24th at 11 am, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55419. Visitation, Wednesday, September 23rd from 5-7 pm at Gill Brothers Minneapolis Chapel, 5801 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55419. Interment ~ Frohn Eastside Cemetery, Bemidji, MN. Russ was a shining light to all the people he touched. He will be missed by family, colleagues and friends. Russ and I we’re appointed as district judges in 1976. He became a giant in Minnesota justice, raising to the role of Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. Yet he ever forgot his roots. He respected the role of the trial judge. Rest In Peace my friend
