Carma Crane Bingham was born at Burley, Idaho May 2nd, 1942 to Martha Walker and Ralph Owen Crane. She was daughter 3 of 4. Sisters are Joan Havens, Pauline McCracken [Lee R.], and Lesley J. Smith [Grant]. She grew and started school in Oakley, Idaho; following her father's work she also attended schools in Twin Falls, Gooding, Kimberly, Hansen and Buhl, Idaho. She loved learning, worked hard, and got good grades. Her last two years of high school were in Buhl, Idaho and she tied for Salutatorian with three others. She played the baritone in band, won State honors in debate, and was a leader in girls Club. She tried to earn her own school clothes and spending money by babysitting, helping do custodial work at the church, picking potatoes, and working at a Dairy Queen. When 14 her mother and George's sister introduced them and a Christmas eve double blind date started a true love story. Carma and George went to both school's dances, plays, and every church dance, fireside or activity. When George left for college he (18) asked Carma (16) to marry him after her graduation. With parent's approval she wore her diamond engagement ring her Junior and Senior years and they were married in the LOS Logan Temple June 30th, 1960 and enjoyed life together for over 60 years. Carma worked as a drug store clerk then a bank teller to help, put George through college at BYU. Wherever they lived Carma always found all the neat places to visit and loved to go for rides or outings to see fun things. In the summer of 1963 George was drafted into the army. Carma lived with her parents for 3 months until basic was over then joined George in San Antonio, Denver and finally in El Paso. They were discharged just a few months before Vietnam broke out. Through friends George went into retail management training and became assistant manager of a store in Albuquerque. While there they had the chance to adopt a baby boy from Calgary, Canada. Carma flew alone to Calgary and lived with a friend’s parents for 3 weeks to finally complete all adoption requirements then flew back to George with their baby boy, Mark Owen Bingham who was born June 12th, 1966. They then put all their belongings in a U-Haul truck, towed their car, and with the new baby drove back to Provo Utah to complete his BS degree. After the BS completed, they lived in Orem Utah while George taught middle school for 1 year. Then State Farm insurance hired George to be an auto adjuster and they moved back to Twin Falls. A year later they were able to adopt a beautiful sweet, days old baby girl, Nanci Ann Bingham Clarkson, born Mar 17th, 1970. Over the next few years as she loved being a mother they moved to Pocatello, Idaho, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Billings, Mt, Missoula, Mt and Juneau, Alaska. She was a great mother being involved in all the kid’s school, church, and extra activities. She was a strong advocate and protector of the kids. Both Mark and Nanci were at college or on their own so they accepted the promotion to Juneau. Carma loved the adventure of Alaska, and retired from bank teller and traveled with George all over Alaska. Big planes, float planes, Cherokee cub planes; she loved them all. She even drove their 25 foot boat as they fished and caught lots of Salmon, watched lots of whales and eagles. After 5 years they moved back to Olympia, WA. and were joined there by the Clarkson family which had added Michael Anthony born Jan 7th, 1997, now married to Emily Richins Clarkson , and Joshua Beau born Dec 12th 1999. While Nanci went to nursing school and worked full time, and Tony worked long hours Carma enjoyed helping to take care of the little boys who she absolutely adored and cherished. They have been the delight of her life. Church callings she held include always music-ward music director, ward chorister, ward choir director, primacy teachers, Sunday school teachers. cub scouts den leader, blazer scout leader, YWMIA counselor, and Relief Society President 4 times. She and George served 2 church service missions -1 as directors of a family history center and 1 as directors of an employment center. She was a LDS Seattle temple ordinance worker. She did indexing for years and did over a quarter million entries. She moved with all the family to Gilbert, AZ in 2012. She soon was diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery with all the chemo and radiation. She has been cancer free for 7 years but her health has gone downhill. She had a hip replacement; several TIA’s, heart problems, and gradual kidney failure. She has had dialysis 3 times a week for a year. Heart problems caused fainting which caused 4 falls this year, the last one cracking a hip in 2 places. With no leg strength at all, weakness and nausea, she has needed lots of assistance from the people at the Quail Park assisted living center in Gilbert. Nanci and the grandkids for many years put all their heart and soul and love into helping to care for her and George. Carma chose to go with hospice and stop dialysis so she could go on her terms pain free and with dignity. She passed at 2:30 AM Monday Sept. 14th 2020 with no pain or nausea. All her immediate family were at her side. She is one of God’s special daughters who served others selflessly all her life. She was loving, accepting, giving, helping, supporting. calming, spiritual and friendly to all she met. Her smiles, hugs, cute wit and love of life will be missed dearly by all! The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all those who have loved and helped us over the years. Her memorial services will be September 19, 2020 at 9am at the LDS chapel on Ocotillo and Higley, 5656 S. Higley Rd. Viewing will be from 8am-9am for close friends and family. She will be at rest at the San Tan Memorial Gardens in Gilbert, AZ
