Born May 26, 1923, in Marquette, a son of Alexander and Alfreda (Swanson) Belmore, Howard was a lifelong Marquette resident. He graduated from Graveraet High School, Class of 1941, and soon after enlisted in the US Army Air Corps, serving his country during World War II. In 2015, Howard was fortunate enough to go on Honor Flight with his favorite son-in-law, John.
