Karen Olson, age 83, of Irma, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 under the care of Ministry Home Hospice. Karen was born on February 17, 1937 in Evanston, IL to Andrew & Rose (Jackel) Swanson. She was married to Axel Leonard Olson on February 13, 1960 in Evanston at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death in 2015. Karen and Len moved to Des Plaines, IL in 1967 where Karen worked for the USPS as a letter carrier along with other challenging jobs. Together, they moved to Tomahawk in 1993 to keep the family homestead. Locally, Karen was a school bus driver for many years and also served as the Town of Skanawan Chairperson. She is a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she had many special and loving friendships. She served on Grace Lutheran Church Council and was a choir director. Karen was an avid gardener. Karen is survived by her son – Jeffrey (Jenny) Olson of Irma; her sister – Nancy Friel of Michigan; many nieces, nephews, her two special kitties – Patches & Panda and many grand animals . She is preceded in death by her parents, husband – Len, and two sisters. The Memorial Service for Karen Olson will take place on 6:00PM Friday, September 25, 2020 at Krueger Family Funeral Home. Pastor Susan Christian will officiate. Visitation will take place from 4:00PM until the time of service at 6:00PM.
