On May 26, 1966, he married Kadambari Tripathi and spent several years in Africa working in the textile industry. He followed his dreams and ambitions and in January 1974, immigrated to the United States and his family joined him a year later in 1975. He settled his family in Lafayette, Georgia and remained a resident of Lafayette for 46 years until his recent passing.
