Jill Ann Schoeppach, 73, of Higgins Lake went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at home with her loving family by her side. Jill was born on August 10, 1947 in Flint, Michigan to Gordon and Bertha (Protzman) Rockwell. She grew up in the Mt. Morris area where she graduated from high school. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's degree in teaching and later went on to Spring Arbor College to receive her ZA endorsement for teaching preschool age children. Jill taught in the Jackson County Parma Western School District for 20 years. She was instrumental in bringing the “Young Fives” program to Western School District. She developed the curriculum she taught the class for 16 years. On July 12, 1969 in Mt. Morris, Jill was married to Wayne Schoeppach. They built their retirement home in 2002 on Higgins Lake property that has been in the family since 1960. Jill was a member of Houghton Lake United Methodist Church where she was very active in the ladies group and was instrumental in starting the preschool program at the church. Her passion was being an advocate for kids, always active in promoting "get out the vote" programs for millages involving children in the Western School District. Jill also enjoyed her flower gardens, baking and sewing which lead her to making costumes for the High School Theatre group for several years. Her true passions were serving the Lord and spending time with her family. Surviving Jill are her loving husband of 51 years, Wayne Schoeppach of Higgins Lake; daughter, Dawn (Rob) Luce of Union Grove, WI; son, Todd (Marie) Schoeppach of Sturtevant, WI; three grandchildren, Michael Luce, Matthew Luce, and Peter Schoeppach; brother, Jan (Una) Rockwell of Tawas. Jill was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial Services for Jill Ann Schoeppach will be conducted at a later date from the Houghton Lake United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Lyon Township. Memorial contributions in memory of Jill are asked to be directed to Houghton Lake United Methodist Church: RT Paulin Preschool Fund (money used for supplies) or Preschool Scholarship Fund.
