Obituary

During these very trying times we at Donohue Cecere Funeral Home want to assure you that we have taken every precaution to provide a safe environment for you and your loved ones. Our location is cleaned and sanitized daily and we continue to follow best practices for social distancing and safety.

In accordance with Executive Order 202.17 (which requires any individual over age two, and able to medically tolerate a face-covering, be required to cover their nose and mouth with a mask or cloth face-covering when in a public place) we are required to follow this mandate or risk being shut down; therefore, all individuals entering our funeral home will be asked to wear a face mask or cloth face covering.

As of the latest update we are able to offer limited visitation periods in the funeral home for family and friends up to 25 people per session.  Please be mindful when visiting during these sessions to limit the amount of time spent at the funeral home.  This will give the opportunity for other family and friends to visit.

Anne R. Brescia (Crimi) was born to Nicholas and Fortunata Crimi on February 23rd 1924, in New York’s Manhattan. Anne was a faithful wife, beloved mother, loving grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Anne grew up in Bay Ridge Brooklyn where she met and later married the love of her life Benjamin (aka Buddy). They met on a blind date, it was love at 1st sight, and it was to last a lifetime. Married for 70 years, together Anne and Buddy raised 2 children; Anthony (Jayne) and Nicholas (Joan), and had the added joy of not only 5 grandchildren; Jessica, Nicolle, Lauren, Gregory and Kate, but also 5 great grandchildren; Sienna, Paul, Dean, Elizabeth and Brooks. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and sister to Peter, Lucio and Emilia.

Anne’s life was one of joy and celebration. She loved being with friends and family and could light up any room she entered. Particularity, she could sweep you away on the dance floor. Anne alongside friends frequented Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan to dance the night away with many shared laughs and good times to be remembered. During the winter months she took her dancing to Dyker Beach Golf Course’s frozen pond, where she twirled around on the ice until dusk set in. Friday nights were reserved for game night and poker was her game of choice. Anne was an avid card player and even passed her love for cards along to her grandchildren, teaching them war, hearts, and solitaire just to name a few. She was a member of the Catholic War Veterans in Brooklyn, NY for many years, a dedicated Mets fan, and had a special love for the casinos.

Anne was proud of her family and all that came with it. She was actively involved in the lives of her grandchildren making sure to be there for life’s milestones and offering encouragement to do their best and always reach for the stars no matter how far away they may seem.

Just because Anne may no longer be in sight, she will continue to be a light in our lives. She will always be with us each morning, noon and night. Anne is loved, she is missed but most importantly Anne is remembered by each and every one of us.
