Geraldine M. "Jerry" Drevalas Obituary

Geraldine M. "Jerry" Drevalas (nee Warns), age 97, a resident of Villa St. Benedict (VSB) in Lisle, IL, formerly of Chicago and Palatine, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. She was born August 27, 1923 in Chicago, IL. Beloved wife of the late Theodore N. Drevalas, loving mother of Ted, Jr. (Sandy) Drevalas of Hebron, IL, Michael (Nancy) Drevalas of Naperville and the late Gerry (Mel) Alger, adored grandmother of Ted (Sandy) Drevalas III and Jarrod (Gina) Drevalas; Christopher (Kelly) Drevalas and Kimberly (Jeff) Goldstone; Melanie (Jean-Alexandre) Andreani, cherished great-grandmother of eleven, devoted daughter of the late Ernest and Josephine (nee Eisenbacher) Warns, dear sister of the late Ernest (the late Marge) Warns, the late Catherine (the late Larry) Diemer and the late Shirley (Wayne) Golwitzer, sister-in-law, cousin, aunt, great-aunt and friend of many. Jerry was the second of four children born to Ernest and Josephine Warns. Her father was a pressman at the Chicago Tribune and she grew up in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood graduating from St. Michael High School (Class of 1941), where she played the clarinet as a member of the school band. After graduation, she went to work at the W. A. Alexander Insurance agency on Lasalle St. in downtown Chicago. She met her future husband, Ted, at a friend’s wedding. Jerry was always proud to say her last day of work was shortly before her marriage to Theodore "Ted" Drevalas on November 29, 1947. Jerry’s three children, Theodore, Michael and Geraldine were all born in Chicago. The family lived on Ridgeway Ave. until they moved to Palatine in 1967. Jerry lost her beloved husband, Ted, on February 11, 2005 after more than 57 years of marriage. She continued to live at their home in Palatine until she came to live at Villa St. Benedict in July, 2006. Over the years, Jerry enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint. She donated many afghans to worthy causes. In recent years her eyesight forced her to give up crocheting. She continued playing Left-Right-Center every week and always looked forward to Sunday mass. She enjoyed her time at VSB and Benedale and made many friends over the years. Visitation will be held Monday, September 21, 2020, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 22, 10:30 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville. Interment: All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
