Steven Earl Parsons
Steven E. Parsons, 77, of Washington, IL died at 12:15 am Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. He was born on November 9, 1942 in Oelwein, IA to the late Earl Foster and Inez Borland Parsons. He married his much beloved wife Patricia A. Alcorn on April 17, 1971 in Peoria, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his cherished daughter Allison Parsons of Peoria, IL, and brother, Jeffrey (Joan) Parsons of Pensacola, FL, and several close cousins and their families. Steve graduated from Galesburg High School and Bradley University with a degree in Automotive Engineering. After graduating from Bradley, he worked as a Service Representative for American Motors in Chicago, IL for a short time. In 1965, be began working as a Technician at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Mossville, IL, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Sports Car Club of America, the Heart of Illinois Sports Car Club, SAAB Club, and the AMC Rambler Club. Steve was a man of many interests including traveling, sailing, cars, autocross events, hill climb events, car shows, motorcycles, photography, going to estate sales, and collecting various old toys. He especially took pride in his Lionel train set from his childhood days. He loved nature and all animals great and small. He cherished his many sweet dogs over the years, and Perry, their 45 year old box turtle. The family would like to thank all the dedicated doctors and nurses that have treated Steve over the last two years. He received wonderful care and we feel blessed to have had each and every one of them. A memorial visitation for Steven will be from 4-6 pm on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. A graveside service will be at 11am Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Sorry for your loss ! I knew Steve from the sports car activities he was involved in. I lived in Springfield until 1986 and remember him from autocrosses and sports car activities in Springfield and Peoria. I moved to Peoria in 1986 and saw more of him at local events. ... Continue Reading

I was so sorry to read of Steve's passing. I first met Steve at the Caterpillar Technical Center in Mossville in 1977, where, as a 'new guy on the block', I benefited from his friendship and guidance. My sincere condolences to his family. Bill Mason.

My sympathies to the Parsons family. Steve and I raced in autocross events & Hill Climbs. He was a great friend. We also worked at the Tech. Center in Bldg. F and L . I will miss him. Bill McCoy.

R.I.P. Dear Cousin Steve. We shared many emails, FB posts, Christmas cards, & a memorable Caribbean Cruise with our spouses. Steve & Pat’s Christmas cards were so unique & prized they were kept on our refrigerator door all year! You will be greatly missed, Dear Cuz

My condolences to Patricia & Allison for their loss. I have fond memories of the autocross events & hill climb events and especially Steve giving a tour of his Lionel train layout & collection of toy cars. It was like visiting a museum of child hood memories. God Bless
