Galen Howard Swank
<p>Galen Swank, a longtime resident of Modesto, CA, passed away on September 13, 2020 at the age of 84. Survived by his loving wife Sarah “Roberta” Swank, sons, Patrick Swank & Robert Swank, stepdaughter Pam Shorman & stepson Mike Sidow, 10 grandchildren (Josh, Jason, Brad, Rachelle, Beau, Kristen, Beth, Eric, Nicole, Mark), many great grandchildren & siblings (JoAn, Marilyn & Ron). </p> <p>Galen was preceded in death by wife & mother to their children, Geraldine “Gerri” Swank, son, Charles “Chuck” Swank & Linda Swank. Throughout their marriage, Galen & Gerri lived in California, Kansas, Missouri as Galen made various career changes. </p> <p>His final & long-term career was with the USDA as a Federal Meat Inspector/Compliance Officer. He was very proud of the role he played in maintaining federal standards for meat & poultry.</p> <p>Galen enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, whippet racing, music in all forms (including singing, playing records, attending concerts). He was a devout Christian and attended Shelter Cove Community Church for many years until his health would not allow. </p> <p>He was devoted husband, father & grandfather and loved spending time with family & friends. Many of his great grandchildren took a “walker” ride with him. </p> <p>He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. </p> <p>A graveside service will be held @ Sylvan Cemetery, Citrus Heights, CA, Saturday, 9/19/20 @ 10 am.</p> <p>Donations can be made in Galen’s honor to American Diabetes Association. </p>Obituary
