Justin Ray Cook

Justin Ray Cook was born on March 26, 1979 in Salem, Oregon to David and Cathy (Gillespie) Cook. The family would live on their North Fork property where Justin would attend Gates Elementary School. Eventually, his father would open a Good Year Tire Store in Bend, Oregon, where Justin would graduate from Bend Senior High School and help his father with the family business. After high school, Justin began college where he would study forestry services at Chemeketa Community College, and Oregon State University. However, fate would have a different plan…. Justin became passionate about food. He had the opportunity to work at excellent restaurants in Corvallis and Albany, becoming an incredibly skilled chef. Every single item Justin made was delicious from his French sauces to prime rib. He had the skill for cooking, but his food was always made with love. He worked at Castor and Frankie’s Restaurant, and would be described by many of his co-workers as a hard worker and ready to do a great job. His career helped in find love when he met his wife, Yuni Magana, at one of the restaurants he worked at. He also made many friends from his career, and people who recognized his amazing talent. Justin also appreciated nature, and loved to take hikes all over with Yuni or go fishing. He was passionate about living a healthy lifestyle, and worked out every single day. With Yuni, he would often travel to Mexico and spend time with her family there, those where cherished times. He and Yuni would also adopt 2 dogs from Mexico and bring them back to have loving homes with his parents. Justin passed away on September 8, 2020, at the age of 41, as a result of the Beachie Creek Fire at his home, along with his loving mother, Cathy. He is survived by his wife, Yuni Magana; father, David Cook; siblings, Travis Cook and Michelle Cook Breedlove; aunt, Janice Brown and uncle, Jimmy Gillespie; nieces and nephews, Billy, Jessanie, Adalynn and Jacob, in addition to his extended family in Mexico.Just will be remembered for the love he had for his family, cooking, nature, and animals. A private memorial will be held to family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to help with the re-build of their family home. https://givebutter.com/3omcv0 Thank you for the love, prayers and support you have shown them in such a difficult time.
