Matthew Zaba, 82, of New Britain and Boynton Beach, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born on September 12, 1938, in Stróże, Poland, Matthew was the son of the late Jan and Maria (Podwika) Zaba and the beloved husband of 52 years to Yolanta (Twardo) Zaba. Matthew graduated high school in Poland and went on to serve in the Polish Army. He immigrated to the United States in the mid 1960’s, where he completed his degree. He was a skilled Tool and Die Maker and worked for Colt Industries for most of his career. Matthew along with his wife Yolanta, loved traveling the United States extensively in their RV and meeting new people. He enjoyed visiting family and vacationing abroad. Matthew was an avid fisherman, soccer fan, and an amazing craftsman. Later in life he found joy in painting, and photography. Matthew was a wonderful husband and father, a kind and always thoughtful grandfather. Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Michael C. Zaba and his wife Megan M. Zaba and their son Timathy M. Zaba, his daughter, Ursula Zaba McCarthy and her husband James P. McCarthy and their children, Madaline Y. McCarthy and Zoe C. McCarthy. Matthew was brother to Dolek Zaba, Tadek Zanowski, Antek Zaba and Wladzia Szpila all of whom have passed. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 31 Biruta Street, New Britain. Committal services and inurnment will follow the Mass in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
