Allen M. Elirck

Allen Marshall Elrick was born August 1, 1939 at the Flagler Hospital to Lonnie and Opal Charles Elrick. Allen grew up on a farm north of Flagler. He always liked living in the country. When Allen was a senior in high school, his family moved to Flagler. During high school, he enjoyed playing sports, oh and he was pretty good at it. After graduation, Allen attended NJC where he received his associates degree. He returned to Flagler and became manager of the Co-op lumber yard. In 1961 he married Sharon Peterson. They were blessed with their first child, Craig Allen in October 1963. Allen was offered a job with a wholesale lumber supply company in Denver. January 1964, He, Sharon and the baby moved to the city, and it was quite a move for them. Allen became a salesman for the company. He traveled to Denver and the front range. He always said he was lucky because he liked his job. In 1965 Allen and Sharon were blessed with their second son Roger Wayne. Sometime around 1968 the company he worked for burned down. He went to work at Boddington Lumber Company and stayed 30 years. In 1973 Allen, Sharon and the boys moved south of Brighton. They lived there until 1986-this is where their boys grew up. After the boys left home they bought a house on 5 acres, also south of Brighton. They were to stay there until 2003. During this time their son Craig and grandchildren Melissa and Curtis Elrick came to live with them. Allen and Sharon had the very best time raising these children. Also during this time Allen and a neighbor had a herd of buffalo. That was very interesting times. Allen retired in 2002. In 2003 he bought the Raymond Elrick place north of Flagler. Allen, Sharon and grandson Curtis moved to the farm. They really enjoyed their time there. Allen kept busy for some years working for Jim and Bill Witt. He also worked for Jim Michael. This was an enjoyable time for him. Allen and Sharon moved to town in 2016 due to his health. He fought a courageous battle against Lymphoma for 7 years. Allen was happy when his grandson Curtis and wife Ashley had a baby boy in February 2020, Marshall Allen Elrick. Allen passed away peacefully at Lincoln Care Center September, 9, 2020. Allen is survived by his wife Sharon, son Roger, son Craig and daughter-in-law Tammy. His grandchildren Curtis and wife Ashley, Melissa and husband Kyle, and Cody Elrick. His great-grandson Marshall Elrick. Sister Linda and brother-in-law Ronnie Green. Brother-in-law Roger Long and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Larry, brother Gary Elrick, sister Sherry Long. Nephew Michael Long.
