Rev. Stanley A. Hickey III, age 73, transitioned from earth to his resting place on
September 14, 2020. He was born August 25, 1947 in Cleveland, TN to Catherine
Cummings Hickey & Arlie Stanley Hickey Jr. As the second oldest of nine children,
he quickly assumed the eldest role and exhibited first born traits of being reliable,
structured, persistent and an over achiever when his oldest brother was away
serving in the Vietnam War. These traits all served as a great foundation for his
future career.
At an early age, it was evident that he would never meet a stranger and became a
Mentor to many. He always believed that family was in the heart and opened his
home to many. His zest for life, quick temper and command presence all
contributed to his nickname “Spark”. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal
Savior and later accepted God’s calling and became an Ordained Minister in the
A.M.E. Zion and Baptist Church organizations. He was currently the Pastor at
Cassimore Community Nondenominational Church in Greensboro, AL.
He began his professional career in Criminal Justice as a Police Officer, advanced
as a Private Investigator and took on several special projects in the Federal Bureau
of Investigations. Dedicated to his craft, he became a top marksman at the TN Law
and Enforcement Academy and was honored to be a part of the SWAT Team. He
continued in the field of Security & Public Safety at Tennessee Valley Authority,
leading security detail for high profile celebrities and taking on Chief of Security
positions in various Colleges/Universities in the Southeast. As a continuous learner,
he pursued various academic curriculums and received honorary degrees in
Criminal Justice & Communications. As a total thought partner to Executives, he
was asked to assume the role of Acting Dean of Students at several two and four
year colleges and helped many to regain their accreditation.
He had a passion for helping families seek justice for imprisoned loved ones and
helping inmates successfully reenter into the community. He took pride as a biblical
scholar and loved sharing God’s word with others. He enjoyed playing softball,
dominating the skating rink, playing checkers and was known as an avid pool shark.
He also kept himself busy repairing/remodeling houses and caring for his beloved
Rottweiler’s until his health began to decline.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arlie Stanley Hickey Jr. and Catherine
Cummings Bramlett, sisters Rosetta, Edie, Felicia and Cathy and brothers Johnny
and Ralph Hickey.
He leaves to cherish memories, his wife, Debra Y. Hickey, daughters Karen, Kim
and Mirakle Hickey, sons Stan (Emily) and Alonzo (LaKayla) Hickey, brothers Erwin
(Phyllis) and Mike (Marie) Hickey, special friend Shirley Hickey and several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
