James Robert Baxter

Mr. James Robert Baxter of Innisfail, Alberta passed away at the Innisfail Health Centre on Friday, September 11, 2020 at the age of 80 years. James was born on July 7, 1940 in Calgary, Alberta, to Bob and Esther Baxter. His two brothers, Daryl and Lorne were added to the family over the next seven years. Following High School, Jim trained at SAIT, to become a mechanic. His love of motorcycles began in his teens and he enjoyed many years riding with a couple clubs, and on his own. In 1972, he started working for Canada Post, in Calgary. This career took him to Victoria and Vancouver. He met and fell in love with a co-worker, Margaret Sowa, and they married on September 12, 1974. They both retired and moved back to Alberta, settling in Innisfail in 1994. They spent sixteen winter seasons in their motorhome, exploring and enjoying trips across Canada, and most of the U.S., especially Arizona. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret and his son, Gregory, his brother, Daryl (Debbie) of Calgary, Alberta, his five sisters-in-law, Connie Baxter of Hatze Lake, British Columbia, Elaine (Gary) Anderson, Susan Hammon, Cathy (Dave) Wall, and Anna Sowa, his mother in law, Doris Sowa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Esther and a brother, Lorne. At Jim’s request, no formal service will be held. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.heartlandfuneralservices.com.
