James Edward Fitzgerald died Friday, September 11, 2020 at his home in Millington, NJ. He was 73. James was born in the Bronx, NY a son to the late Agnes (Dolinskas) and Patrick Fitzgerald living in Murray Hill, NJ before living in Millington, NJ since 1981. He was a graduate of Rice High School in 1966 and attended college at Central College in Pella, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. James worked as a telephone specialist for Verizion for over 30 years in Manhattan, NY before retiring. He practiced Karate and was a true philanthropist helping numerous people throughout the years. He was a collector of stamps and coins and loved to travel, annually to Quebec, and saw the Middle East, Cuba and Asia. While in Quebec he loved to visit Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré RC Church and attend Mass. He was pre deceased by his brother Patrick who died in 1953. James is survived by his Brother Raymond and his wife Monika, and their children Erik Fitzgerald and Andrea Mudd and her husband Bernard, his cousin Raymond Kotkoski, and his dear friends Marie Renard-Laux, and Annie Gravel. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Rd., Gillette, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Shrine of St. Joseph 1050 Long Hill Rd., Stirling, NJ at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Stirling.
