Dianna Hope Pollard

Mrs. Dianna Hope Pollard, 51, of Havre de Grace, Maryland, transitioned to be with her Lord, on September 12, 2020, at her home, after a 2 ½ year valiant battle with cancer. Hope was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 10, 1969, daughter of the late Robert Anderson and surviving mother, Dianne Hilburn. She is also, survived by her devoted husband of 15 years, Henry James Pollard, Jr; son, Joseph R. Jackson; daughters, Britany Jackson and Brianna Turner; brother, Demetrius Thomas; sisters, Faith Tetteyfio and Crystal L. Hubbard and numerous nieces and nephews. Hope graduated from high school within the Detroit Public School System and later, committed 27 years of her life providing adult health and personal care services: 1993-1996: Good Shepard Medical Center, Longview, TX – Nurses’ Aide 1996-1999: YD Home Health Services, Inc., Longview, TX – Assistant Director/Program Manager 1999-2006: At Home Private Staffing, Longview, TX – Owner/Proprietor March 2007– June 2011: At Home Aid and Nursing Home/Private Duty Assignments/Visiting Angels, Toms River, NJ 2011 until her illness, Hope Pollard Companion Services, Harve de Grace, MD– Owner/Proprietor On September 2, 2005, Hope married Henry J. Pollard, Jr, in Longview, TX. She and her husband, along with their three children, moved to Lakehurst, NJ, in 2006. Due to the Fort Monmouth, NJ, Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC), Henry and Hope Pollard moved again, to Havre de Grace, Maryland, in 2011. There, they became extremely active church members of Helping Hands Ministries (HHM), in Churchville, Maryland. Anointed with the ministries of Help and Leadership, the following is an overview of Hope’s accomplishments of ministry to the communities and within the church: 2013 Served as a member of the HHM Planning Committee Major contributor in the success of the HHM Church Anniversary 2013 a 175-person event: 2014-2015 January 2014: Assisted in the coordination of the 18th HHM “Agape Fellowship” of February 2014 Event Coordinator for the HHM Women's Weekend Retreat 2014, at the Eden Resort, Lancaster, PA. Coordinated the collection of finances, room reservations, meals, and activities for 55 women. November 2014: Launched the HHM Food Pantry- coordinated the acquisition of food, donations, manpower, and deliveries; fed 10 large families with Thanksgiving Meals. Ensured that all donors received thank you letters from the church. As HHM Food Panty Coordinator, ensured the receipt, stocking, inventory, and distribution of hundreds of dry and can goods food items March 2015: HHM Resurrection Service Food Give away – organized volunteers and registrations, fed multiple families within the community. Organized an HHM Food Giveaway to the Perrywood Garden Apartments Community and raised the funds to purchase and donate100 family meals. From 2015, until her illness, primary point person and coordinator of honorariums for Bishop Tatuem, Pastor Miriam, birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and church anniversary celebrations. Ministry Contribution and Activities in 2016: Served as HHM Good News Club Coordinator for the Perrywood Gardens Apartments February– HHM Sunday School—Give Your Heart to Jesus Fellowship” - Arts & Crafts and Continental Breakfast March-Resurrection Sunday School refreshments, stations of the cross arts & crafts, “Let Christ Rise In My Life!” Release of prayer request balloons after Sunday School Activities Perrywood Gardens Apartments (“Good News Club”): March: Established first meeting with Perrywood Garden Apartment Manager, provided a space to minister at Perrywood July 15th: The 1st Children’s Outreach at Perrywood, Bible School Lesson, Hotdogs, chips, and drinks: The Lord did an outstanding job this evening! The Holy Spirit drew 28 kids and two adults. All the kids made a group confession of faith in Christ and two kids asked for prayer. Aug.19th- 35 children Sep. 16th-21 children Oct. 17th -“Harvest Time Celebrations” 31 children Nov. 12th- 25 children, 15 received Christ Nov. 25th -Coat giveaway Dec. 10th -Christmas gifts giveaway, 24 children Food Pantry January 2016: supported Deaf Community Ministry (Sister Natalie) Food giveaway: acquired donation of over 100 food items for donations. Other activities: August-partnered with Ministered Wanda-Growing in Life & Word & Village @ Lakeview, Edgewood Back 2 School Extravaganza. Wrote and copyrighted a praise and worship song entitled, “First Send Judah”. wrote copyrighted another 3 praise and worship songs. Memorized and recorded “Bishop’isms” selected member to quote common phrases used by Bishop Tatuem in his honor. Ministry Contributions and Activities in 2017: Served as the Chairperson for the HHM Planning Committee from January 2017, until the effects of her illness: Perrywood Gardens Apartments’ Community Festival Garners Positive Feedback | Aberdeen, MD Patch January 8, 2017 February 2017: HHM Celebrating Our Heritage Child Development Center & Academy African American Art Show Co-coordinator of the Helping Hands Ministries “Designer’s Original” Women’s Conference 2017 Raised over $1900 in charitable donations and reached out and coordinated with 17 local businesses and acquired approximately, 12 gifts and several gift cards valuing approximately $150. Ministry Contributions and Activities in 2018 Video Presentation Ministry Contributions and Activities in 2019: HHM Representative and Coordinator of the WAWA Food Market, food giveaway program; ensured the acquisition and distributions of free food to hundreds of people/families to four (4) housing communities, a Senior Citizens housing apartment development, and others within the community. Coordinated and produced Girl’s Afternoon Tea Party Saturday March 23, 2019 1pm to 3pm @ the Old Post Apartments community. Susquehanna Workforce Summer Youth Job Experience July 15th - Aug. 16th (5-week Program) Mini Conference/ Workshop/ Seminar- Providing paid summer jobs for 5 youths be 17-24. Afternoon Family Movie Old Post Apartments Community Room Saturday May 4, 2019 Men of Honor co-laborer Assisted in the Women’s Conference October 2019 Assisted in the Harvest Community Food Giveaway November 2019 Gave 10 bicycles to the children in the Old Post Apartments Community. Ministry Contributions and Activities in 2020: June 2020- Coordinated from her sick bed, Susquehanna Workforce Summer Youth Virtual Work Experience. Ensured a Virtual Work Supervisor and ensured 5 weeks of employment for 5 youths. My Pumpkin transitioned into the bosom of the Lord three months later. Closing: Dianna Hope Pollard, while on earth, was a devoted woman of God, with extreme faith and faithfulness; a dear, devoted, and virtuous wife, with the spirit of a Pastor’s Wife and a Church Mother; a prayerful mother; a daughter who brought great cheer to her parents; a wise and comforting sister and an endearing aunt. Her family, church family, friends, and the community, will truly miss this exceptional and unique treasure, which is all to the Glory of God Almighty, in the name of Jesus the Christ.
