Emeline Mae (English) Fraser, New Waterford

It’s with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Emeline Fraser, surrounded by her loving family at home on Friday September 11, 2020. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Sophie (MacKinnion) English. Emma was a graduate of the New Waterford School of Nursing, class of 1953, where she started working and also met the love of her life, her husband, Willie R. Mom worked as a registered nurse her whole life; it was her passion to say the least. She started her career at the New Waterford General Hospital, continued on to St. Rita's, the Toronto General, Framingham Union Hospital and finally finishing up at Spring Garden Villa/Breton Bay Nursing Home. Our mom was a very caring, compassionate, and loving person. Her love for her family was unparalleled. Our favorite memories would find us all gathered at home sharing a meal, laughs, and great conversations. Emeline is survived by her sons, Billy (Leslie), Jack (Kim),and David (Arlene); grandchildren, William, Danielle, John, Sean; great- grandchildren, William, Laylin and Emmah, who she was so proud to have named after her. She is also survived by the last living member of the her immediate family, her brother, Howard (Howie) English. Emma was predeceased by her husband, Willie R; her parents along with brothers, George and Edmund; sisters, Annabelle (Cookie) and Catherine (Butsy). Mom’s family was the greatest joy in her life. We were very fortunate to have our mom for as long as we did. The void left behind in her passing will never be filled. The family would like to say thank you to Dr. Steven MacDougall for the excellent care he gave to our mom. It will always be remembered. A private funeral service celebrating mom’s life will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, New Waterford, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations in Emma’s memory can be made to a charity on one's choice. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
