<p>Ruth Brooks Christian, 93, passed away on September 10, 2020 at Springhill Medical Center. She was born on August 9, 1927 in New London, Connecticut to Ralph Brooks and Marion Tillinghast Brooks. In 1969 she moved to Pascagoula, Mississippi with her husband, Richard and son, Brian. Ruth and her family loved boating and swimming. They enjoyed going to the islands off the coast of Pascagoula, which is where she received much of her inspiration for her paintings. Her paintings are also of the rivers around the area. Ruth has been painting her whole life and has showcased her art in Art Galleries, Colleges, and libraries. While living in Pascagoula, she attended and was greatly involved in the First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula for over 45 years. She taught art classes at the church for 20 years and Sunday school for 18 years. Also, she volunteered in the Genealogy Department at the Pascagoula Library for several years. Ruth loved to bake goodies and stay involved in activities. She was a kind and generous person with a good outlook on life and an inspiration to others.</p> <p>She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Christian; parents, Ralph and Marion Brooks; two brothers, Ralph and Francis Brooks.</p> <p>Left to cherish her memories are her son Brian (Edna) Christian of Sand Hill, MS; and sister Elinor Parker of Groton, Connecticut.</p> <p>A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff and her friends at Greene Rural Nursing Home for taking care of her.</p>
