Raymond Savant Obituary

PINE PRAIRIE – Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peters Catholic Church in Pine Prairie on Monday, September 14, 2020 for Raymond Savant, 89, who passed away on September 11, 2020.

Father Kennth Mayne, pastor of St. Peters Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery in Pine Prairie, LA.

Raymond Savant was born in Vidrine, LA on October 30, 1930 to Hampton and Adia Granger Savant.  Raymond worked for Cleco at the Coughlin Power Station in St. Landry for over 37 years.  His coworkers at Cleco gave him the nickname “Soapy”.  He was a loving husband and father and was a great provider for his family.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War.  Raymond was a devout catholic and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors; whether it was camping, gardening, hunting, fishing, or raising his pigeons, quail and rabbits.  His greatest love was his family.  Raymond was a family man and his family meant the world to him.  He loved them immensely.  He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by those that knew and loved him.

Raymond leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Ardoin Savant of Pine Prairie; his three daughters, Debbie S. Breland and husband Jim of Baton Rouge, Anita Aguillard and husband John of Lake Land; and Donna Ortego and husband Danny of Pine Prairie; his two sons, Keith Savant and wife Carla of Pine Prairie and Ronnie Savant of Pine Prairie; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hampton and Adia Granger Savant; sister, Sable Ardoin; brothers, Jefford Savant and Byron J. Savant; granddaughter, Kristin Stelly; and great-grandson, Joshua Stelly. 

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on Sunday, September 13, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  A rosary will be recited by Noelie McDaniel on Sunday at 3:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Monday, September 14, 2020 starting at 8:00 AM until time of service. 

Due to COVID restrictions we ask that you please wear a mask when visiting the Funeral Home.
