Lois Jessie Johnston Obituary

Lois Jessie Johnston age 56 of Marsh Road, Thorburn passed away on September 11, 2020 in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit, New Glasgow. Born in Tatamagouche she was a daughter of the Margaret and the Late Benvie Bigney. Lois has been a resident of Thorburn for many years and was very involved in the community and was always available to volunteer. She worked for a number of years at KFC in Pictou at North Nova Seafoods as a supervisor and at the Cape John Fish Plant. She later went to work for Dave’s Commercial Cleaning at Michelin Tire, Granton. Lois loved flowers and enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her husband Colin, Thorburn; son Judd, Thorburn; mother Margaret and stepfather Raymond Murray, Hodson; sisters Florence (Scott) Hayden, Lourdes; Mae (Robert) MacKenzie, Alma; Mary (Fred) Robinson, Pictou. She was predeceased by her father Benvie and mother-in-law Margie Johnston. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Monday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow masks are required and physical distancing guidelines must be followed. Funeral service will be held in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, at 2 pm with John Reeves officiating. Public is advised there will be limited seating for the service. Burial will be in Riverbank Cemetery, Toney River. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Gregor Maclean, all the doctors and nursing staff at the Aberdeen Hospital and also a very special thanks to the Pictou County VON. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
