Cindy Joy Marie Church Obituary

COVID-19 UPDATE: With the recent guidelines limiting the number of people to less than 10 at any gathering, we are asking that you consider other ways to help support family and friends during this difficult time as an alternative to attending a visitation or funeral. Cindy Joy Marie Church, age 64, passed after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, Montana. Cindy was born on October 28, 1956, in Flint, Michigan. Daughter of Beulah Wager and the late Melvin Church. Cindy grew up in Mt. Morris, where she graduated from Mt. Morris High School. She enjoyed working for the Department of Agriculture, surveying farms. Then moved on to working for Mt. Morris schools for many years before retiring and moving to Montana. While in Montana, she worked at the Lazy B in Augusta, serving in many roles but most notably as a cook. She enjoyed riding horses, cooking, gardening, and listening to music. Cindy is survived by boyfriend, Tad Spargur; her mother, Beulah; her three children: Veronica (Mike Kosloski) Shanks, Joshua (Amy) Shanks, and Jessie Shanks; grandchildren: Dyllan (Lathia Simmon) Scott, Brett (Alyssa Barton) Scott, Joshua Shanks, Kyrsten (Juan Meza) Scott, Michael Scott, and Carson Shanks; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Brennan & Landon Scott, and Kasen Meza; brothers: Russ Church and John (Andrea) Keller; sisters: Renita Looze and Kim Harvey and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Church, and stepfather, William Keller. A memorial celebrating the life of Cindy will be held at Barber Memorial Park (11410 Seymour Rd, Montrose, MI 48457) on Saturday, September 26, 2020. We will begin at 2:00 pm and continue as long as people desire. Food and beverages are provided. The location includes a large pavilion with picnic tables as well as restrooms. Feel free to bring your own camping chair if you so desire. We greatly look forward to receiving all who are able to attend! Cindy's obituary was lovingly written by her family.
