Louise McCormack Plainville, Connecticut Obituary

Louise McCormack

99 years ago, August 28, 1921, Louise Gueble McCormack was born in Waterbury CT. With her passing on September 9th, 2020 her family remembers this truly one of a kind woman. She was the daughter of the late Helen and Henry Gueble of Cheshire, CT.

Louise (Lou) was married to the nicest guy you could ever meet, Richard (Dick) McCormack. They shared 67 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2011. Their love and friendship was beyond special. On October 6th, 1943 they married and on Dick’s furlough from the US Army Air Corp, Lou followed him back to Lubbock, TX, where she worked on the base so they could be together. When Dick was discharged, they embarked on a road trip to California, one Lou would fondly remember her whole life and tell everyone what a special time they had together. Lou loved nice cars, especially her VW Beetle convertible and her Renault. She loved a good steak with butter on it and lots of salt and will be remembered for her strong personality, love of animals, family, professional and personal friendships and the “shot and beer” she shared daily with Dick and anyone that stopped by for a visit.

A resident of Cheshire, CT, for 90 years, yes 90, she graduated from Post College and spent 20 years working at Cheshire Veterinary Hospital where she developed life long friendships and her love of animals. Her’s was always a welcome home for any animal in need of shelter and a meal.

Lou was loved by all including her family; daughter Lisa McCormack and her husband David Martino. Her son Richard McCormack and his wife Arlene. Grandson Daniel McCormack and his wife Rita Naman and their children, Leila and Milo. Her granddaughter Jesse McCormack and her husband Joel Banuelos and their daughter Sidney. She has a very special sister, Helen Gueble Koss and her husband Clarence who were partners in fun with Lou and Dick for decades. Cherished nieces and nephews include; Juliana and Richard Hart, Andrew and Shelly Koss, Toby Koss, Joseph and Sue McGrath, Bunnie Della Camera, Patricia and Bob Card and Mary Lou Hawk. If you were friends with Lou, you had a friend for life. Her wonderful and caring friends include Diane Garner, Gayle Talbot, The Copeland Family and Bill Rastelli who was like her second son and confidant. She was predeceased by another wonderful friend Cassie Goldson.

Lou’s family would like to extend a warm and heart-felt special thanks to the exceptional staff and caregivers at Jerome Home in New Britain. These wonderful people went so above and beyond their jobs to provide exceptional, loving care and truly became part of her extended family during her stay there.

We ask that in remembrance of Lou, please do a kind deed for others and provide shelter and a meal for a stray every now and then. And of course, have a shot and a beer in her honor!

Funeral services in celebration of Lou’s life will be held privately. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home 81 Broad Street extends their gratitude to the McCormack family for their trust.
