Michael Richard Skinner

Michael Skinner, age 81, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home. Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia to the late Burford and Blanche (Burke) Skinner. Michael was a proud veteran, he dedicated is life to serving his country.He served in The Black Watch, the 2nd Battalion Regiment and the Royal Canadian Airforce. Michael, along with his loving wife Ann lived and travelled across Canada and Europe. He was a true “Cape Bretoner”, returning often with Ann and their children for family vacations. Michael fondly shared stories of his service with family and friends. Michael was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Ann (Johnson) Skinner; his stepmother Kaye (Hurley) Skinner and his brother Junior Skinner. Surviving are his loving partner of 8 years, Sylivia Mayo; his son, Michael David (Zana) Skinner; his daughter, Sandra (Rob) Dufour; his grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Krienke, Rachelle Grona, Danielle Dufour, Stephanie(Justin) Dufour, Evan Dufour and his 6 great-grandchildren. A special thank you to Dr. Mallory, Amanda Tinning, Dr. Carey and the VON nurses. A service will be held at a later date at the Sackville Legion. Donations in Michael’s memory may be made to one’s charity of choice.
