Kevin Scott Coy Obituary

Kevin Scott Coy, age 62, of Temple passed suddenly from this life during the early afternoon hours of Wednesday, September 9, 2020 in Temple, just 4 days shy of his 63rd birthday. Born on the 13th day of September 1957 in Canton, OH Kevin was the son of Harvey and Lillian (Schwindling) Coy. Kevin grew up in the Canton area in Ohio. After leaving school, in 1975 he enlisted into the United States Army. He served in Vietnam at the very end of the war and then discharged in 1978. Kevin eventually helped bring three children into the world, 2 sons and a daughter. Life after his military service had its challenges for Kevin. After a long hard road of drug addiction though, with the help of his Lord and Savior, he finally broke the chains of addiction and has been sober for the past 11 years. Kevin was proud of his sobriety and made it his life’s mission to help others escape the same addiction that he suffered with for so long. Kevin devoted himself to his church and to others. He always put himself last before everyone else. Kevin was very active in the ministries that helped people fight addiction through several area churches including Belton Church of Christ, Heights Baptist Church, Temple Bible Church and Ocker Brethren Church. The people that he has helped and the love of Christ that he has spread will be the lasting legacy that Kevin will leave for generations to come. He has been a resident of Temple for the past 15 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Mike Coy. Kevin leaves behind to cherish his memory his children Dillon Coy of Red Oak, Ashliegh Coy of San Antonio and Michael Coy of Temple. He is also survived by his four siblings, Craig Coy of Akron, OH, Rosanne Coy of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Sharon Wallace, North Canton, OH, and Shelly Golshanni of Austin as well as five grandchildren, Ethan and Christian Lynn, Eleanor Coy, Estella Amari and Bjorn Kevin Mark. A memorial service will be held at the Belton Church of Christ in Belton on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 4 o’clock p.m. with Pastor Ritchie Hamm officiating. An private, family only interment service of Mr. Coy’s ashes will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with a United States Army Honor Guard rendering a final salute. Hewett-Arney Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
