Elisabeth Pranskunas Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Elisabeth Pranskunas (nee Freund) of Red Deer, Alberta, at Bethany CollegeSide Gardens on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the age of 100 years. Elisabeth was born on May 28, 1920 at Magdeburg, Germany. As a World War II survivor, Elisabeth left her homeland, taking her to England; where she met and married Kaz ‘Charlie’ Pranskunas and immigrated to Canada in 1956. Elisabeth then joined the workforce, as a cook on several farms across Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. After settling in Brooks, Alberta, she became employed at the Brooks Horticultural Research Centre and the Brooks School Board, until her retirement. Elisabeth continued to enjoy her passion for gardening, preparing many memorable meals for her family, and socializing at the Senior Citizens Downtown House and Golden Circle to indulge in many crib games. Elisabeth shall be remembered for her kind, generous nature and giving heart. Elisabeth will be lovingly remembered by her son, Karl-Heinz (Ingrid) Hecht of Ummendorf, Germany; her daughter, Sabine (Gerald) White of Red Deer, Alberta; her grandchildren, Rachelle Wilken, Corey (Roxanne) Pollock and Justin Pollock and her four grandchildren in Germany; four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and dear friends.
