Pastor Betty Jean Lee McEroy

Pastor Betty Jean McEroy, daughter of the late James S. Lee and the late Clarisey A. Lee was born on December 16, 1936 in Columbia County, Georgia. Pastor McEroy entered into rest on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. She accepted the Lord as her Savior when she was 12 years old and lived her life serving God. She was an active member of the Piney Grove Baptist Church, Dearing, GA where she served as the Assistant Pastor under the leadership of Pastor Sylvester Nabritt. She also served as a Sunday School Teacher and Associate Minister at the Broadway Baptist Church in Augusta, GA. She was ordained on November 30, 1997. On March 18, 2007 she was elected as Pastor of the Fountain Grove Baptist Church of Harlem, GA. On September 19, 2007, Fountain Grove Baptist Church accepted her leadership. After 12 years of faithful service, Pastor McEroy resigned because of her health. Throughout her lifetime, she always remained steadfast in her faith in Jesus. At an early age, Betty Jean married the late Frank Albert McEroy, Sr. Their union produced four children; two girls and two boys. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons, Frank Albert McEroy, Jr. and Ralph Edward McEroy. Left to cherish her loving memories: two daughters Julia Teresa McEroy of Atlanta, GA and Melissa Jean (Anthony) Parrish of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren, Malika Jaaber, Jasmyne Carter, Jade Parrish, Jordan Parrish, Justyn Parrish, Shalethia McEroy, Ralph McEroy Jr. and Phillip McEroy; a special niece/bonus daughter, Brenda (Jerry) Hawes of Pennsylvania; one sister, Evelyn Sanders of Harlem, GA; two brothers, Thomas Lee of Chicago, IL and Franklin Lee of Washington, D.C.; a host of additional nieces, nephews, other relatives, church members and friends.
