Mary Ann Pitman Obituary

Mary Ann Pitman, 80, passed away at her home in American Falls on September 9, 2020. Mary was born September 5, 1940 in Idaho Falls, Idaho daughter of Ernest and Pearl Weekes.

She grew up on a dairy farm in Archer, Idaho and graduated from Madison High School in 1958. While in high school she enjoyed singing and playing the saxophone in the marching band.

She married James Doyle Pitman on May 7, 1959 in Archer, Idaho and they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls temple on May 10, 2001.

Early in her life she worked at the Motorview drive-in in Idaho Falls and later waited tables as a waitress at the Westbank in Idaho Falls.

Mary Ann moved her family to Lava Hot Springs where she worked at the Wagon Wheel as a waitress. More recently she moved to American Falls and opened her own Bar. After retiring from bartending she opened a wedding decorating service, Beautiful Beginnings, a business that she always wanted.

Mary Ann was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as the chorister and loved every minute of her calling.

She loved to travel especially if the destination had a waterfall. Many people enjoyed her singing, but she especially loved being with her family, and nothing made her happier than being with her grandchildren.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Trina (Bill) McCallum, Pocatello, Idaho, Michelle (Mitch) Huber, Jim Pitman, Shawn Pitman, all of American Falls, Idaho, Michael Pitman of Canby, MN; siblings, Nancy (Ted) Mickleson, Mesquite, NV, and Margaret (Ken) Bird, Sandy, UT; 19 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ray Weekes, and Gail Weekes; a sister, Gwen Perrnould; husband, James Doyle Pitman; two daughters, Devanne Pitman, and Natalie Pitman; a granddaughter, Jessica Pitman; and two great-grandsons, Landon Gifford and Tyler Neifert.

There will be a viewing on Monday, September 14, 2020 from 5-7 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, ID.

Graveside services will take place Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 12 Noon at the Archer-Sutton Cemetery in Archer, Idaho.
