Carolina Zofie Stegehuis Obituary

Private family service.

Carolina Sofie was born in Red Cross, SK on April 10, 1924, to Theresa and Adam Steitzer and was raised in the White Eagle District.  In 1941, when she was 17 years old, she went to work at Gavigan's Hotel in St. Walburg.  She met John Stegehuis who was working at Musch's store and they were married in 1942.  In 1943  their daughter, Carolina June, was born.  Carol Sofie worked at St. Walburg Creamery candling eggs and then the Co-op store which they managed.  When the Co-op closed she worked at the Toggery shop and then for several years at Marshall's Store.  In 1961, they moved to Lloydminster where John managed (CCIL) Co-op Implements and Carol managed  Lloydminster Co-op cafeteria for several years.  They then moved to Edson where she worked for Mills Furniture and sold Watkins products.  In 1976, they moved back to Lloydminster so they would be closer to their daughter, who was grain coordinator at United Oilseed Products, and their granddaughters, Cynthia and Marliss. Carol led a full life as a Jehovah's Witness.  We will miss her greatly and all of the love and good cooking she gave her family, especially her excellent apple pie.

She leaves to mourn:  her daughter, Carolina June Hutter (Frank); her granddaughter, Cynthia (Mark) and their son, Kiefer (Asyah); her granddaughter, Marliss (Rob)  and their son, Tyler (Brianne), and their daughter, Rayla (Raymond); her sisters, Emma, Bertha, Hilda, Ludy and Dorothy.
