<p>Robert R. Emerson, age 80, of Peabody, died Wednesday, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a brief illness. He was the husband of Betty L. (Spongberg) Emerson with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Orange, VT he was the son of the late Earl D. and Estella (Farnham) Emerson. Bob moved to Saugus as a young boy attended Saugus Schools and graduated from Saugus High School, Class of 1958. He was employed as a Senior Engineer for Sunoco for over 50 years until he retired in 2007, he then rejoined the company as a consultant until 2017.</p> <p>Bob was an active longtime member of the First Lutheran Church where he served on the building committee, was a member of the Finance Committee and served on the church council.&nbsp; He loved spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren play sports, working around his house, baking for the holidays and camping at Camp Calumet on Lake Ossipee, NH. He also enjoyed hunting and ice fishing.</p> <p>In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by one son Scott R. and his wife Janice Emerson of Peabody, one daughter Lisa M. and her husband Gardiner Parker of Lynn, four grandchildren Justin and Samantha Parker of Lynn, Scott and Jaelyn Emerson of Peabody, three sisters Dottie Bockus of Saugus, Betty Sweet, Arlene Kinkade, two brothers Earl and his wife Carol Emerson, Ed and his wife Barbara Orton, and several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Service Details: Bob&rsquo;s visiting hours will be held at the Parker Funeral Home 35 Franklin St. Lynn on Sunday from 2:00 &ndash; 6:00 Pm to which relatives and friends are invited to attend, while adhering to the Social distancing guidelines of the State of Massachusetts. Private funeral services will be held on Monday followed by burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Please make memorial donations in Bob&rsquo;s name to the First Lutheran Church 280 Broadway, Lynn, MA 01904 or to Camp Calumet PO Box 236 West Ossipee, NY 03890</p>
