Barbara Ann Dick
<p>Barbara A. Dick, 84, a lifelong resident of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 9, 2020. She was born on November 10, 1935 in Norwalk to the late Clemence A. and Alice F. (Hohler) Fries and graduated from Norwalk St. Paul High School in 1954. </p> <p>During her senior year, Barbara began working for Citizens Bank as a bookkeeper, retiring in 2000, as the bank’s Vice President, after 46 years of service. In 1957, she married her sweetheart Eugene M. Dick. They spent 52 wonderful years together until his passing in 2009. Together they raised their 5 children and enjoyed traveling. Barbara was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she served in many capacities including, Church Council, School Board, as past president of the Altar Rosary Society, and as a eucharistic minister. </p> <p>Barbara loved her family and cherished time with her grandchildren. Square dancing, games of euchre, and trips to Amish country, built a foundation of many fond traditions, and memories. She also enjoyed reading, family genealogy, and playing organ and piano. Barbara was also a longtime member of the Norwalk Eagles 711. </p> <p>Survivors include her son, David Dick (Andrea Guffey), Bloomsburg, PA; daughters, Debra (Michael) Schneider of Norwalk, Diane (Jim) Mongiardo of Collins, Denise (Daniel) Hipp of Norwalk and Donna (Jeffrey) Murdock of Wakeman; siblings, Raymond Fries of Norwalk and John (Karen) Fries of Norwalk; grandchildren, Derek Dick, Lisa, Jim, Mike and Brian Mongiardo, and Brendan and Madelyn Hipp and great grandchildren, Lucy, Monica and Anthony Mongiardo and Liam Dufault </p> <p>In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her late husband Eugene M. Dick who passed in 2009; siblings, Bernard and Theodore and grandchildren, Shawn Schneider, and Kevin Mongiardo.</p> <p>A visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. There will be a limited amount of people admitted inside at a time, but visitors are welcome to visit with family and friends outside of the home where social distancing and current guidelines are more practical, and under a tent which will be provided behind the funeral home. Visitors should be prepared for the possibility of waiting outside and are reminded to bring a mask for entry inside. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel St., Monroeville. A private family burial will follow the mass in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the St. Joseph School Endowment Fund.
