Barbara Lee Bedair Obituary

Barbara Lee Bedair, 88, of Overton, Tx., passed peacefully away on Wednesday, Sept. 9 in Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview following a lengthy illness.

She was born on Sept. 5, 1932 in Wink, Tx. to her beloved parents Elmer L. and Ruby (Roach) Isham. 

Moving to New London, Tx.  during the early oil boom years, Barbara grew up in the Humble Oil Camp. She graduated from New London High School and attended Kilgore Jr. College.

On April 28, 1951, she and R.H. Bedair were married and raised four children in Overton. They celebrated 61 years together until his death. 

Barbara was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Overton and as an avid golfer, was a member of the Overton Golf Association for many years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, playing bridge as well as singing along to Elvis tapes while being taken on country rides by her daughters. She also very much enjoyed her sweet, faithful cat, Baby. She dearly loved and cherished her family and friends.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sister, Benita Loveall, and son, Roland Steven Bedair, husband of Cathy Jehu Bedair.

She is survived by daughters Sue Fleming and husband Mark of Lockhart, Tx., Marybeth Bergeron and husband Al of Lafayette, La., and Staci Bedair of Overton; grandsons, Mark E. Fleming and wife, Nell of Austin, Tx., Austin Fleming and wife Michelle of San Antonio, Tx., Kyle Haberer of Lafayette, La., Josh Haberer of Houston, Tx., and David Bedair of Kilgore, Tx., Granddaughters include Jenny Rautenberg and husband Dave of Overton, Valarie Hunter of Liberty City, Tx., Megan Fleming and wife Christa of Taylor, Tx., Aley Bedair of Dallas, Tx., Madie Bedair of Gladewater, Tx., and Melanie McKale Bedair of Henderson, Tx.; great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Arbor Grace Nursing Home in Kilgore for the excellent care Barbara received during the last year of her life and also to Pastor Fred Parsons for his compassion and spiritual support. 

No service will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Overton.
