Miss Makayla Kamiya Darling, age 14, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020.

Makayla was born on July 31, 2006 to Mekel Darling and Naquantia Suber-Darling in Richmond, Virginia.  She attended Jefferson Davis Middle School in Jacksonville, Florida and was beginning her journey at Oakleaf High School.

Makayla was very active in sports such as volleyball and softball and received several awards. She loved doing her hair, Tik Tok dances, and decorating walls with photos.  She enjoyed playing dress up with her grandmothers.  She inspired to be a model and nurse.  Her favorite past time, however was taking naps and spending time with her cousins.
Makayla was predeceased by her great grandparents, Willie and Mary Lou Davis, paternal great grandparents, Ruby Joyner, Willie Benn Joyner, Eleanor Darling and Joseph Darling, Sr.

Cherishing fond memories are her parents, Naquantia and Mekel Darling; sister, Iviana Pitt; brother, Rashard Pitt, Jr. all of Jacksonville, FL; grandparents, JoAnn Suber and Bennie of Blair, SC; Aexice and Vincent Kinney of Newberry, SC; Michael Darling of Petersburg, VA; Elridge Suber, Jr. (Pamela) of Newberry, SC; aunts, Mahogany Darling (Robert) of Richmond, VA; Tiffany Suber of Newberry, SC; uncles, Elridge (PJ) Suber (Renetta) of Jacksonville, FL; Stephen Brockett (Crystal) of Statesboro, GA; loving and devoted favorite cousin, Lapri Cromer of Newberry, SC; along with many, many more cousins; God parents, Damella and Shawn Miller of Brooklyn, NY; best friends, King and Kennedi of Jacksonville, FL; and many other family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Newberry Memorial Gardens.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
