Richard Waddingham, 71, of Cromwell, died Thursday, September 10, 2020 at EveryStep Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 10: 30 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed. Services will be live streamed on our Powers Funeral Home Facebook page. Pastor Delores Doench will officiate. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Cromwell. Visitation with family receiving friends will be from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. service time Saturday at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are to the family or the Creston VFW Post #1797. Online condolences can be made at www.powersfh.com. Richard Allen Waddingham, son of Arnett LeRoy Waddingham and Irene Minnie (Suckow) Waddingham was born May 11, 1949 in Mason City, Ia. He graduated from the Ventura High School in 1967. Following graduation Rich’s parents moved to Macksburg. Rich worked for Bill Mercer at the Conoco Station in Creston from 1967 until 1969. Rich proudly served his country as part of the United States Army from 1969-1972. On December 15, 1973, Rich was united in marriage to Mindy Jones in Winterset, Ia. They settled in Creston where Rich ran the DX gas station for 4 years located along Highway 25. They were later divorced. He also worked at Farm and Home in Creston and then later worked for the Creston Schools as a custodian for 19 years. Following retirement in 2011, Rich continued to work part-time for Stalker Chevrolet. Rich was a member of the Creston American Legion and Theodore J. Martens, Creston VFW Post #1797 in Creston. He was also a member of the Creston Volunteer Fire Department from 1979- 1993. Rich is survived by two daughters, Tammi (Cory) Latham and Stacey (Josh) Ray, both of Creston; five brothers, Tim Waddingham of Macksburg, Mick Waddingham of Macksburg, Terry (Carla) Waddingham of Winterset, Ia., Steven (Debbie) Waddingham of Macksburg, Ia. and Kevin (Cindy) Waddingham of Macksburg; three sisters, Vicky (Rick) Blair of Macksburg, Debbie (Jim) Eyerly of Midlothian, Va. and Connie (Larry) Wilkinson of Earlham, Ia.; four grandchildren, Kiersten and Luke Latham and Hayden and Tanner Ray and two foreign exchange daughters, Titta Lintukangas of Finland and Ayako Koyama of Japan as well as many nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenny Waddingham, sister-in-law Marlene Waddingham, twin grandsons Cade and Connor Ray and nephew Jeremy Waddingham.
