Kathleen Grace Young, 77 of Lake Villa, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Northwestern Medical Center in McHenry.

She was born on June 28, 1943 to the late and John and Eleanor G. (Myrtle) Hughes in Chicago, Illinois.

Kathleen is survived by her son Sean D. Young (Mike Daugherty) her sister Betty Hughes, her nephews, John (Lisa) & Joesph Guagliardo & Zach Gilbertson, and her cousin Linda Alpers.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Barbara Bush & Iris Guagliardo.

Kathleen managed to raise her son on her own, while maintaining a full-time career as a Mechanical Engineer for Avon for over 30 years.

Often nicked named “Kitch” by friends & family, she especially appreciated the company of her neighbors, Lavonda Smith, as well as Damon & Diane Depree. 

She kept a childlike glint & sense of wonder throughout her life. She loved life, travel, boating, and flying private aircraft. Even as a free & adventurous spirit, she always put the needs of others before her own. Especially with her family, as they were the most important thing in her life.

Inurnment will be at Warren Cemetery. Memorial services to be determined after Illinois gathering restriction are lifted.
