Dean Jon Meinders

Dean Jon Meinders 1961-2020 Dean Jon Meinders, age 59, was the son of Henry & Sharlene (Nelson) Meinders and was born on July 18, 1961 in Heron Lake, MN. He grew up north of Worthington, MN working on the farm and went to school in Worthington, graduating in 1980. He worked for two grain elevators, Cargill in Worthington and New Vision Co-op in Brewster, before working as farm hand in rural Worthington and as a delivery driver for Echo Electric Supply in Worthington. He married Teresa Ferguson on May 31, 1986 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. They have three children, one grandson, and a granddaughter due October 22nd. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling, watching Minnesota Wild hockey, camping, and spending time with family especially around a campfire. He also spent some of his free time working on projects and fixing almost anything inside and outside of the home. He passed away Wednesday, September 9th at his home of cancer while under hospice care. Survivors include his wife Teresa Meinders of Brewster, MN; son Jared (Katie) Meinders of Lincoln, NE; daughter Brianna Meinders of Heron Lake, MN; son Colin Meinders of Brewster, MN; grandson Alexander and granddaughter due in October; brother Todd (Susan) Meinders of Worthington, MN; sister-in-law Billie Meinders of Eutawville, SC, and nephews Barry and Travis Meinders. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mark Meinders. Visitation will be at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 4-6 pm.
