Adele Friedman

Adele Faye Friedman (Rodman) passed away on September 9, 2020 peacefully in her sleep. She was born December 25, 1918 during the pandemic and died 101 years later of natural causes. She was the devoted wife of the late Leon Friedman. She is survived by her loving children, Linda Goldberg (Charles) and Marc Friedman (Brenda); her adoring grandchildren, Jill Goldberg (Jeffrey Attman), Sherri White (Christopher), Michael Friedman and Erica Goldberg (Scott); her cherished great grandsons, Matthew White, Dylan White and the “baby” 2 year old Jackson Goldberg; and her sisters Ruth Richmond (late Nelson) and Sandra Rodman; also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Anna Rodman and her sister Sylvia Rodman. Adele was the eldest of 4 daughters. She graduated Forest Park High School in 1937 and her favorite subjects were shorthand and typing. After school she worked for the Baltimore City Board of Education. Adele met her future husband Leon when she was 15. They were married In the Rabbi’s study on September 6, 1942 while he was in the army. Adele loved music and dancing and enjoyed going to amusement parks and dance clubs when she was young. She played the piano and could listen to a song and then sit down and play it. She enjoyed playing poker, canasta, mahjong and RummyQ. Adele was a devoted wife and mother and her life revolved around her family. She enjoyed family vacations to Atlantic City when the children were young. Adele later enjoyed going to Atlantic City to play the slot machines. In October, 2018 before her 100th birthday the entire family took her to Casino Live. She played the slots for over an hour and loved seeing the lights and hearing the bells & whistles when she won. She lived at Levindale for the last 3 years and enjoyed art projects, Bingo and listening to live entertainment. She would sing along and clap her hands. Adele was blessed with a long, healthy life with a caring, loving family and many friends. We would like to thank the staff at Levindale that cared for her the past 3 years. A special thanks to Lauretta and to Trina and Christina who made her feel especially loved and comfortable during her final hours. In addition, we thank Andi for providing us the opportunity to see Mom numerous times through facetime. Funeral services and interment are private. Please omit flowers.
