Karen V. McKoy

Karen Vernay McKoy, born in Paterson, NJ on, Saturday, October 9, 1965 was the first born to Veda and the Late Pearl McKoy. Surrounded by family, she entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 5, 2020. Karen accepted Jesus as her personal Savior at an early age and joined the Seminary Baptist Church, Paterson, NJ under the leadership of the late Rev. Thornton Smith. Despite the ups and downs that life may bring, she remained steadfast in her faith & committed to her church. Karen was educated at Paterson Public School #26 and was a proud alumni of Passaic County Tech,Wayne, NJ where she graduated in 1983. Karen was employed by State Farm Insurance, Wayne, NJ for over 20 years and then Shoprite Liquors, Fairlawn, NJ. Karen was a gentle hearted woman that enjoyed spending time with family and friends. During her final years, she was determined to keep the fight, stay the course and live life to the fullest. In addition to loving on her nieces and nephews, she went out of her way to support others in their entrepreneurial quests. Her witty personality and disallowance of feeling like a victim caused her to remain upbeat and to coin her most commonly uttered phrase, "I'm Good!" Karen is predeceased in death by her Father Pearl C. McKoy, Paternal Grandparents Roland & Sadie McKoy, Maternal Grandparent Margaret Shaw. Karen Leaves to cherish her memory a son, Xavier Hilbert of Paterson, Mother, Veda McKoy, of Paterson, Brothers Vernon (Lisa) McKoy of Westwood, NJ, Rev. Cedric (Tamisha) of East Orange, Nephews Tyler and Jordan and Nieces Sydney, Caitlyn & Cassidy McKoy, Aunts Alatha Mathis of Atlanta, GA, Marie Graham, Evelyn Graham of Clarkton, NC, Mollie Shaw, Ann McCoy of Paterson, NJ and Uncles, James (Janice) Graham of Bladenboro, NC & Harry Lee Steele, of Clarkton, NC, Godsister, Angela (Jason) Jennings and Godbrother Brandon Baldwin. Long time special friends, Michelle Smith Baker, Kimberly Alston, Beverly Mack and Alyson Saunders. A host of other relatives and friends.
