Dorothy S. Wilusz Litchfield, Connecticut Obituary

Dorothy S. Wilusz

Litchfield - Dorothy “Dot” Wilusz, age 94, passed away on September 8, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was the spouse of Anthony Wilusz who passed on in 2012. Born on May 5, 1926, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Joseph Dziedzic and Mary (Kus) Dziedzic. Dorothy was a person of many talents. She enjoyed baking breads and pies which won many ribbons at area fairs. The family especially loved her Christmas time pierogis, potato salad, and poppy seed bread. Her colorful crocheted afghans are not only decorative but keep family members warm. In her younger years Dot created beautiful dresses for her daughters. For many years Dot raised a garden, and enjoyed picking blueberries. She enjoyed traveling around the state with her husband to square dance. Ever curious, Dorothy enjoyed trips out to the western US and reading about foreign countries and nature. Even in her later years when her eyesight was diminishing, Dot painted colorful nature scenes. But most importantly, Dorothy loved her family and was the glue that held the family together. Whether singing Jolly Old Saint Nicholas and making Christmas plays, telling stories of her childhood, making Halloween parties, or taking care of her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, Dorothy’s laughter and love was ever present and offered whole heartedly. This love even was shared with the over 30 foster children with whom Dorothy shared her home. Dorothy is survived by three sons, Stephen Wilusz of Litchfield, Paul Wilusz of Manchester, and Tony Wilusz and his spouse Debra A. Brown of Torrington. Her surviving daughters are Marie Wilusz, Litchfield, and Tina Wilusz and her husband, Deryk Jones of New Orleans; grandchildren Sarai Gutierrez and spouse Carlos, Leah Brown-Wilusz and spouse Eric Swanson, Phil B. Wilusz and spouse Kim, Meshya Jones, Cameryn Jones, Derek Jones, and James Ellis; great grandchildren Liliana Gutierrez, William Gutierrez, and Elle Wilusz. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the hospice program of Foothills Visiting Nurses Association, 32 Union Street, Winsted, CT 06098.
