William McKinley Jones, Sr. 81 a native of Garner, NC was born August 29, 1939 to the late Axum Jones Sr. and Verlina Johnston Jones. He departed this life of Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at home after a brief illness. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, William managed his illness with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surround by his children who he adored more than anything else in the world. William attended Garner Consolidated High School. William worked for Wake County Public School System for over 30 years at North Garner Junior High School in Garner, NC. He also grew and sold fruit and vegetable for many, many years all over Garner, Raleigh, Fuquay-Varina and the Triangle area. William was proceeded in death by his parents Axum and Verlina Jones, Sr.; two sisters, Susie Mae Umphrey and Eunice Jones; four brothers, David Jones, Jesse Jones, Velvin Jones and Axum Jones, Jr. William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He loved gardening and fishing. William leaves to cherish his memory his lovely wife of 55 years, Frances L. Jones; children Annette (Gerald) Strickland, Connie Jones, Vickie (Archie) Gresham, Williams Jones, Jr. and Venita Partin; one brother, Emmitt (Ella) Jones; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; family and friends.
