Shane Jonathan Hawkins Obituary

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI - Shane Jonathan Hawkins passed away on September 4, 2020 at his home in the loving care of his family, sister Sheila, his nephew Wayde, and UP Home Health after an unexpected illness. Shane was born in Marquette, Michigan on November 12, 1971. He is survived by his mother Mercedes Peterson, step father Daniel Hawkins, ex-wife Aubrey Alberti, in-laws Chris and Sheryl Alberti, sister Sheila Utsinger (Hawkins), his sons Charles Hawkins, and Jamesson Hawkins along with his aunts, uncles, and nephews who played an important role in his life. Shane graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1990. He then enlisted in the United States Army serving in Panama City, Panama. Shane pursued his passion in a career of food service with many fond memories of working at Entre Amigos and the Sweet Water Café where he learned how to cook from scratch. He went on to study culinary arts at Northern Michigan University (NMU) completing a degree in Hospitality Management in 2003. After completing his degree, he was employed at NMU managing Temaki and Tea and advanced to Operational Manager of Dining Services including Northern Lights Dining. Shane was also a proud member of the local Great Lakes 501st Garrison Star Wars community. Shane was extremely passionate about his boys, his family, his work and anything to do with Star Wars. He was a loving and active father making sure his boys were always engaged in fun, learning and letting them know how important they were to him. He loved to have fun and make things interesting by pulling elaborate hoaxes on his unsuspecting co-workers encouraging them to do the same in the spirit of fun. He was always concerned and interested in all the people that crossed his path and was there to teach, lend a hand or an ear to those who needed him going above and beyond to be of service. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Shane is busy now preparing banquets in another galaxy far, far away for those who cross and has been enlisted as angel for his sons Charlie and Jamesson making sure they know he will always be by their side and that he loves them. He would also want everyone to know as always “May the Force be with you.” A private celebration of Shane’s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2020.
