Carol Ann Kelly Obituary

Carol Ann Kelly, age 84, died peacefully on August 29, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Lawrence MA, on July 14, 1936 to John and Cecile McCarthy. In 1958, she graduated from Boston University Sargent College. Under an ROTC scholarship, she majored in physical education and joined the Air Force after graduation. Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, she served for four years in the Women’s Medical Specialist Corp as a physical therapist. She is survived by four children: Kathleen Marie Zwack and her husband, William, and their three children, Kerry, Jody, and Molly of Kensington, MD; Kara Eileen Pascale and her husband, Joseph, and their three children, Kristen, Rachael, and Taylor of Alexandria, VA; James Joseph Kelly 111 and his wife, Kathryn, and their sons, Max and Isaac, of Corvallis, OR; and John Patrick Kelly of Port Hueneme, CA. She was predeceased by her husband, James Joseph Kelly, Colonel, US Army (retired) in 2007. Other family members include three sisters Marilyn L. Ness; Eileen M. Walsh; Linda M. Coyle; 8 nephews, 2 nieces, 7 great nephews and 6 great nieces. Carol Ann will be remembered for always supporting the Armed Forces with shopping and eating excursions to Ft. Myer and Ft. Belvoir; thrice yearly visits to Walt Disney World; watching Rolling Thunder every Memorial Day weekend; attending concerts and plays with her granddaughters; escorting her grandsons on tours of Washington, DC; “playing” in her garden; supporting her parish of St. John The Beloved; pilgrimages to Lourdes and Fatima; and keeping in touch with far-flung friends and family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, McLean, VA, on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 11 am.
