Eleanor J Davis
Eleanor J Davis, daughter of Martin and Hannah (Johnson) Olson, was born in Estherville, Iowa on April 25, 1934. She passed away on September 7, 2020 at Good Samaritan Society in Estherville at the age of 86 years.<br><br>Eleanor was united in marriage to Roger Davis in 1953. The family moved around the country while Roger was enlisted in the United States Army. Eleanor made her home in Estherville for many years raising her children and working as a nursing assistant at Good Samaritan Society for at least 30 years. Before rejoining Roger in Tennessee. Roger passed away on February 10, 2007; Eleanor then moved back to Estherville to be close to her children.<br><br>She was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville, and attended church services every Sunday, until her health would not allow her to do so. Meeting her friends for coffee, watching birds, and enjoying nature brought Eleanor great joy. She was active in her church in Tennessee as a member and doing volunteer work. Eleanor also enjoyed volunteering at the local nursing home in the activity room.<br><br>Eleanor is survived by her children Denise (Kevin) Poland and Dennis (Bonnie) Davis both of Estherville, and Tommy Hoffert of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She is also survived 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marilyn Olson of Estherville.<br><br>She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter Debbie; granddaughter Allisha Davis; brothers Clarence Olson, Richard Olson, Donnie Olson, and Harold Olson; and her sisters Helen Alseth, Hazel Fisher, and Ruth Elwell.<br>April 25, 1934 - September 7, 202004/25/193409/07/2020

I enjoyed getting to know Eleanor and had the privilege to care for her while at GSS. I will always have a special place in my heart for her. She will be missed dearly .
