Donald W. Herritz
<p>Donald W. Herritz, age 90, of Reedsburg, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at Casa de Oakes in Reedsburg surrounded by his family. He was born on April 23, 1930 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin the son of Carl and Mildred (Licht) Herritz. Don farmed in rural Reedsburg for a number of years while his main employment career started in 1953 with Hankscraft Company which eventually became Gerber Baby Products. Don worked there as the Senior Product Design Engineer until he retired in 1995. </p> <p>On April 11, 1953 Don was united in marriage to Lyla Krueger. That marriage was blessed with four sons. </p> <p>Don was a member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Reedsburg. He was also a life member of the LaValle Sportsmans Club and an avid supporter of the NRA and Second Amendment. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially up in the Minong area with family and friends. But his greatest enjoyment came from his gunsmith work that was mostly self-learned. Don was an accomplished carpenter; having built his own kitchen cabinets, gun cases and many other projects.</p> <p>Don is survived by his wife, Lyla; children, Dale (Jeanne) Herritz, David Herritz, Patrick “Pete” (Misty) Herritz; daughter-in-law, Jean Ann “Herritz” Dunse; grandchildren, Todd, Travis, Kurt, Josh, Allan, Dustin, Lindsey and Michelle; great grandchildren, Samantha, Colton, Kody, Taylor, Madison and Oliver; sisters-in-law, Donna Herritz, and LaReta Dischler; along with many nieces and nephews along as well as friends and other relatives.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Levi and Leona Krueger; son, Michael Herritz; great granddaughter, Willow Herritz; brothers, Russell and Harland Herritz.</p> <p>Funeral services for Donald W. Herritz will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Paul Crolius officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.</p> <p>The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family.</p>Obituary
