Hilda Elizabeth Marks, 96, of Mercersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, September 5, 2020. Hilda was born in Hagerstown, MD on June 5, 1924, a daughter of the late Della A. (McLucas) and Thomas G. Smedley. She worked at L'Aiglon Apparel Company as a seamstress in her younger years and also worked at Troy Laundry in Hagerstown, MD. One of her proudest accomplishments, was helping tailor the uniforms for the Union and Confederate Armies one hundred year anniversary. Hilda also provided childcare to her many nieces, nephews and grandchildren through out the years. She spent alot of time in the kitchen, was an avid coffee drinker and enjoyed playing Scrabble. She is survived by her daughters Sherry M. Marks, of Mercersburg, PA, Teressa L. Preston, of Williamsport, MD and sister Thomasine M. Smedley, of Williamsport, MD. She is also survived by six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Raymond R. "Sonny" Marks, Jr., a grandson Cory Marks, daughter-in-law Jacki Marks, an infant brother and sisters Vivian Smedley and Clarice Bailey. Graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg, PA, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9th, with Father Steven McCarty officiating. If attending, its encouraged to bring a lawn chair. The family would also ask that if attending to use the guidelines given by the CDC and wear a mask.
