Sharon Camp Barrow Obituary

MAYODAN – Sharon Camp Barrow, 67, was received into Heaven by her Lord, and was joyously reunited with her beloved husband, Sherrill and other loved ones, Saturday September 5th, 2020. Mrs. Barrow will lie in state from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2020 and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Colonial Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. Sharon was born in Rockingham County on March 12, 1953, to the late Charles Leonard Camp and Beatrice Sullivan Camp. She was a 1971 graduate of Madison-Mayodan High School. She attended Rockingham Community College in both 1973 and 2015. Her life’s work was dedicated to serving others through her compassion and human resource expertise. She began her career in 1973, as an HR Administrator with Macfield Inc, now Unifi Inc, where she gave 30 years of service. From 2004-2012, she was a Benefits Analyst with Syngenta Crop Protection LLC. In 2013, she courageously began her second academic pursuit, and completed an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Rockingham Community College in 2015, at the age of 62. Shortly after graduating, she became the Office Manager for 220 Trucking Co. Inc., where she happily gave her all until her health pulled her away in late 2018. Sharon loved life, and her enthusiasm shined brightly on all those around her. She married her sweetheart Sherrill in 1973, and they spent 45 wonderful years together, building a beautiful life and family. Sharon loved her family and friends, spending time with them, and enjoying every opportunity life had to offer. She was an infamous bargain shopper and treasure finder, who always focused her mission on finding the perfect gift for others. She had an amazing knack for always knowing what someone else needed, and took much joy in giving to others, rarely ever thinking of herself, or wanting others to focus on her. She was the consummate selfless giver of her love, time, talents, and help, never complaining or asking for anything in return. Sharon loved music and dancing and was likely to sing and dance along to a tune regardless of the time or place. Whether shopping, cooking, vacationing, or dancing, if she was in motion it was tough to keep up with her unstoppable energy and determination to accomplish whatever she set out to do. Her incredible display of strength and resilience was shown greater than ever in recent years, as unimaginable sadness and struggles entered her life. Sharon approached difficulty with resolve, sadness with positivity, and never ever failed to find the humor and bright side of even the darkest day. Her strength was contagious, and even when she should have been at her weakest, she held up all those around her with her beautiful smile, razor sharp wit, and forever sparkling personality. Sharon’s memory is cherished forever through her devoted family; daughters, Tori Hoff (Lee), Meagan Richardson (Billy), both of Stokesdale; grandchildren, Lane (Lexi) and Kaitlin; sister, Judy Crews (Clay) of Mayodan; brother, Eddie Camp (Gail) of Winston-Salem; nephew Harrison Crews (Stephanie) of Stuart, VA; and nieces, Peggy Zoellner (Chris) of Winston-Salem, and Whitney Ligon of Madison; great nieces and nephew, and many other special friends. From Tori and Meagan, to Libby and Ricky, thank you for a lifetime of memories, and more importantly for your amazing display of love and support when we needed it the most. The family will receive friends at 7888 Springdale Meadow Drive, Stokesdale NC 27357. In keeping with Covid-19 precautions, the family has an outdoor area for visiting and receiving. Memorials may be made to The North Carolina Zoo Society online at nczoo.org.
