Born July 22, 1949 in Fairmont, West Virginia, Barb was the daughter of Louis R. and Anna Mae Graziano. Her family moved to Michigan in the early 1950s. Barb graduated from Trenton High School in 1967. After graduating high school, she attended Eastern Michigan University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Later in life, she went on to pursue her Master’s Degree as well as an Educational Specialist degree in the area of reading. In the early 1970s, Barb worked in the accounting department at Jervis B. Webb. There she met her husband John F. Golembiewski. They dated for a few years before getting married on May 11, 1974. Together, she and John had two children – Richard Jason and Stacey Lynn. Barb & John enjoyed 46 years of marriage during which they enjoyed things such as going to the casino, U of M football games, concerts, Tiger’s games, and traveling to Myrtle Beach. They were also very active members of the Brownstown Jaycee’s where Barb served as President for the women’s auxiliary chapter. Barb, better known to her students as “Mrs. G”, taught in the Gibraltar School District for 37 years. She had such a love for children and education. Mrs. G absolutely loved being a teacher and loved her students very much. No matter where Mrs. G went, there was always a former student/parent who knew her! Countless students reached out to her over the years to say she was their favorite elementary teacher or to tell her what difference she made in their lives. She was also a very active member in the Gibraltar School District’s teacher union. She served as union representative and union president for many years. As a retired teacher, Barb also became a very active member in the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, Beta Theta Chapter (known as ADK) which is a sorority for teachers. Teaching and education truly were a passion of hers! In her spare time, Barb enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren! She loved having them to her house for sleepovers, enjoyed babysitting them, playing with them, watching them grow and never missed an event of theirs. Barb also loved playing bingo, going to the casino, and watching the Detroit Tigers play ball! To cherish her memory, Barb leaves behind her husband John; her children Jason and Stacey (Will) Wylie; her grandchildren Madison and Christian; her brother Rick (Pam) Graziano, her sisters Luanne (Michael) Clark and Carol (Steve) Ellison as well as many nieces and nephews. Her family loves her to the moon and back and will miss her dearly! Barb was preceded in death by her parents Louis R. and Anna Mae Graziano along with her sister Karen Graziano and her brother Randy Graziano.
