Lucy "Ann" Robertson Obituary

Lucy "Ann" Robertson (nee: Ballinger), age 84, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020, at her home surrounded by the love of her family. Rev. Robertson left behind a legacy of kindness and service to others. She was born September 22, 1935, in Lakewood, Ohio to the late Dr. Charles Lemuel Ballinger and Mildred Elizabeth Bowling Ballinger. Her greatest joy was as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and a minister of God’s word —these special relationships brought Ann immense fulfillment, tenderness, and meaning. Ann and her beloved husband, Bill, shared a calling as Presbyterian Ministers. As a spiritual leader, she passed along her tender-hearted guidance and friendship to the many she touched throughout her life. Her congregations remember her as a person who loved preaching and singing, who could always be counted on to be loving and present, and who was endlessly optimistic. She had deep intellectual curiosity and believed positive change is always possible when people come together. She set an example for thoughtful and just conduct in everything she did. She lived an active life filled with adventure. She traveled internationally as a missionary in support of the less fortunate, explored the States with Bill in their RV, happening on the most wonderful of national parks and locales, and was always up for a picturesque hike or paddle. She soaked up beauty and life. This delight and curiosity extended into her passion for food, including lively dinners with friends and family and a catering company where she put all her children to work. And like her mother, she was fun and silly: clowning at senior homes and schools as “Jubilee”, and dancing and singing in theatrical productions. Her life was lived with radiance, spirit, and an open-heart -- she was a shining light to all who knew her. Ann passed away as she had lived, with grace, dignity, and a strong faith. She is at peace. Cherished wife of William Owen Robertson; loving mother of Elizabeth Larson Willoughby (Michael), Eric B. Larson (Katherine), Kathryn W. Larson; and step-children, Nicole Roediger (Glen), Blair Robertson, and Nell Mangin (Jim); devoted grandmother of Daniel R. Willoughby, Sarah E. Guseilo (Alan), Paige V. Leventis (Dean), Makenzie V. Larson, Ty Larson, Calli Brannan, Savannah Mangin, Lauren Roediger, Kyle Roediger, Michele Willoughby, Cameron Willoughby (Shamim); adoring great-grandmother of Adley and Olivia Guseilo, and Allexis Willoughby; sister of the late Robert Ballinger and Richard Ballinger. Bill and her family take comfort in knowing what an extraordinary life she led and that she is now fully in God’s Hands. Please see the 'Tribute Wall' for an album of photos.
