Jacqueline Garrett

Jacqueline Garrett, 65, died September 5, 2020. Live funeral stream link: https://youtu.be/4KBkthZCmww Jackie was born July 11, 1955 in Memphis, TN to Jimmie Shenault and Lucille Starks, both parents preceded her in death. Jackie accepted Christ into her life at an early age at St John A.M.E. Church and later joined Hill Chapel M.B. Church under the late Pastor Robert E. Jones. As she matured in Christ, she became a faithful Servant of God. Jackie feared God and served with an excellent spirit. Jackie also served on the Greeter’s Ministry, Finance Committee, Caring (Sick/Shut-In) Ministry and was a dedicated Sunday School student (Class #6). Jackie loved her church family and frequently visited members while on duty at Baptist East Hospital and updated the Caring Ministry. Jackie lived a life of gratitude, faithfulness and love which she displayed with her family, friends and vocation. Jackie attended Douglass High School and was a dedicated employee at Baptist East Hospital for 28 years. Jackie’s legacy is her “renewed” faith in God or “Faithfulness” throughout the last decades in her life! She was a testament to God’s grace and mercy that kept her until she surrendered on last Saturday, September 5th. She was received on God’s celestial shores and left a gap in our hearts that we are processing, dealing with and will move onward, as she would want us to do. Jackie adored her six brothers and was the “only daughter” in the family. Beautiful memories of her and that infectious laugh will be heard and felt in our hearts forever. Jackie leaves to cherish her loving memories two children, Darrell Starks and Sarina Hester, seven grandchildren; Darrell Starks, Jr., Syerra Collier, Martavius & Marqavius Coleman, Monterica Patton, Caterrya Hilson & Carnesha Patton; 11 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Terry (Lynda) Starks, Donald (Vickie) Starks, Ronald (Susan) Starks, Eddie (Jeanne) Starks, Glenn Starks & Tony Starks, who preceded her in death. Sisters-in-law, Berleria Prackett, Debra Washington, Beverly Crout and April McKnight; special friends, Marvin Coleman and Suzanne Jones, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, church family and dear friends.
